Understand your training

Fitness, Focus, & Fatigue

Your core training measures show progress, plan follow-through, and strain. Together, they help Coach choose the next step.

A deliberate approach

“Good enough”
on purpose.

Coach chooses manageable training for casual runners. The plan should help you keep running next month.

Rules choose the runs, not a chatbot. Coach does what a good coach does with your data, not as a person.

Your data

On your phone.
Under your control.

Your training history is processed on your phone. Coach does not upload it to DVDA Games or an external AI service. No account, ads, or analytics.

Weather requests send a forecast location to Apple. Website hosting processes connection information to deliver these pages.

For recreational runners who want to keep running or prepare for a 5K, 10K, half marathon, or first marathon.

What Coach needs

Runs recorded to Apple Health, by your watch or phone app. Your tracking setup must save the relevant data to Health.

What makes Coach better

A GPS route for each run
Coach uses your pace to find the warm-up, the hard part, and the cool-down. Route data also helps read your threshold test.
Heart rate during runs
Coach checks the effort of each run and sets your heart-rate zones from the available readings.
Heart rate and sleep at night
Coach reads these to help show recovery and fatigue. A watch worn at night or a ring can supply them. They must reach Apple Health.

Check your own data

After you connect Health, open Settings → What Coach can see. It shows what Coach found in your last 30 days and what it does when data is missing.

If your watch loses your heart rate

Coach never fills a gap with a guess. Your pace and distance still count. Heart-rate scores use only the minutes your watch recorded. When most of a run has no heart rate, Coach does not score its heart rate.

Wear the watch snug, above your wrist bone. On cold days, keep it under your sleeve. If your watch often loses your heart rate, you can pair a heart-rate band with it. A band on your upper arm is comfortable, and in studies it read almost the same as a chest strap.
